Job Purpose

This position involves handling refund requests from customers in a shared services environment. The role includes accurate calculation of refund values, end-to-end processing of refunds using Global Distribution Systems (GDS), and maintaining compliance with airline policies. Training will be provided, making it an ideal opportunity for those interested in airfare calculations and travel industry operations.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Refund Calculations and Processing:
    • Accurately calculate refund values in adherence to airline policies and fare rules.
    • Handle refund requests using GDS platforms, including Amadeus, Galileo, and Sabre.
  2. Fare Validation:
    • Conduct thorough checks of fare rules to validate refund eligibility for unused or partially used tickets.
    • Calculate net refund amounts by applying fare rules and deducting processing charges.
  3. Proactive Refund Handling:
    • Identify unutilized tickets eligible for refunds and initiate timely claims for unused fares and taxes.
    • Coordinate and categorize refunds under unclaimed revenue.
  4. Customer and Travel Agent Support:
    • Provide refund estimates to travel agents for review and approval.
    • Address inquiries from travel agents regarding refund rules, calculations, and ticket eligibility.
  5. Efficiency and Compliance:
    • Stay updated on GDS functionalities, fare calculation methods, and airline refund policies.
    • Ensure adherence to operational guidelines and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
    • Identify opportunities to streamline refund processes and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Graduation (mandatory).
  • Additional certification in Travel and Tourism (e.g., IATA course) is an added advantage.

Work Experience

  • Experience Level: 0–2 years of ticketing experience in the travel industry.
  • Freshers are welcome to apply.
  • Knowledge of GDS systems (Galileo, Amadeus, Sabre) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.

Skills Required

  • Strong attention to detail, numerical skills, and accuracy.
